About the Malaysian Ringgit
The Malaysian “ringgit” (plural: ringgits) is the official currency used in the country of Malaysia. Its official currency code is “MYR” and it is symbolized by a “RM”. The primary denominations include 5, 10, 50 sen coin; and 1, 5, 10, 50, and 100 ringgit paper bank notes. In Malaysia, decimal numbers are denoted using a point (e.g. 1.50). The ringgit has a managed float exchange rate that is pegged to a basket of currencies and its value is often seen as being dependent on commodity prices (Malaysia’s largest export).
