About the New Zealand Dollar
The New Zealand “dollar” (plural: dollars) is the official currency used in the country of New Zealand, as well as its external territories the Cook Islands, Niue, Ross Dependency, Tokelau, and the British territory the Pitcairn Islands Islands. Its official currency code is “NZD” and it is symbolized by “$”. The primary denominations include 10, 20 cent coins; 1 and 2 dollar coins (1 dollar = 100 cents); and 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 dollar paper bank notes. In New Zealand, decimal numbers are denoted using a point (e.g. 1.50). The dollar has a floated exchange rate and its value is often seen as being dependent on commodity prices (New Zealands’s largest export).
