About the Hong Kong Dollar
The Hong Kong “dollar” (plural: dollars) is the official currency used in the country of Hong Kong. Its official currency code is “HKD” and it is symbolized by a “$”. The primary denominations include 10, 20, and 50 cent coins (sometimes represented by a cents “¢” symbol); 1, 2, 5, and 10 dollar coins (1 dollar = 100 cents); and 10, 20, 50, 100, 150, 500, and 1000 dollar paper bank notes. In Hong Kong, decimal numbers are denoted using a point (e.g. 1.50). The dollar has a fixed exchange rate and is pegged to the US dollar.
