About the Latvian Lats
The Latvian “lats” (plural: lati) is the official currency used in the country of Latvia. Its official currency code is “LVL” and it is symbolized by a “Ls”. The primary denominations include 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 santims coins; 1, 2 lats coins (1 litas = 100 santims); and 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 lats paper bank notes. In Latvia, decimal numbers are denoted using a comma (e.g. 1,50). The litas has a managed float exchange rate that is tied to the euro.
