About the Indian Rupee
The Indian “rupee” (plural: rupees) is the official currency used in the country of India. Its official currency code (ISO) is “INR” and it is symbolized by “Rs”. The primary denominations include 1, 2, 5, and 10 rupee coins (1 rupee = 100 paisa, however, paisa are rarely used); and 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 rupee paper bank notes. In India, decimal numbers are denoted using a point (e.g. 1.50). The rupee has a managed float exchange rate that is tied to the US dollar and its value is often seen as being dependent on commodity prices (India’s largest export).
