About the Russian Ruble
The Russian “ruble/rouble” (plural: rubles/roubles) is the official currency used in the Russian federation, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia. Its official currency code is “RUB” and it is often symbolized by a “руб”. The primary denominations include 10 and 50 kopek coins; 1, 2, 5, and 10 ruble coins (1 ruble = 100 kopek); 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 ruble paper bank notes. In Russia, decimal numbers are denoted using a comma (e.g. 1,50). The ruble has a floating exchange rate and its value is often seen as being dependent on commodity prices (Russia’s largest export).
